I knew I'd never see anything as clever or as hilarious again. This is, hands down, the funniest movie ever made. The adorably clueless band stumbles through the picture, gallantly playing to half-packed houses as their drummers die and their manager lies to them, while they are served bread that is too small for the meat. This "mockumentary" was made long before any VH1 "Behind the Music" special chronicled the outrageous antics of any "real" bands. And it's spot on. Buy the DVD and listen to the commentary in which the actors bash the film in character. It's fabulous. Was this review helpful? I mean, if you like a movie, you can just re-rent it, right?There are scenes in this movie that make me laugh HARD every time I see them. The line about there being a ";fine line between brilliance and stupidity"; (or something like that) and ";We are blessed to have two visionaries in this band"; when a band member is commenting on the song ";Sex Farm"; CRACK ME up every time I hear them.Spinal Tap is the only movie I have ever purchased on DVD. It allows me to have a hearty laugh whenever I need one ...Thank you Rob Reiner, et. al. This is one of the best movies ever made. Period. Was this review helpful?
