I love Kiefer's portrayal of Ace Merrill, the knife-wielding bully-slash-hood. He's just so cool. So's Corey Feldman as Teddy Duchamp. I highly recommend this movie to everyone who wants to look back on those days when they were twelve. Ah, the summer of innocence. Was this review helpful? I loved the actors and what great jobs they did. I love Rob Reiner's directing, he's a genius. (another of my favorite works of his is The Princess Bride). The plot is great and the movie would never even exist if it weren't for Stephen King writing the book. So we all owe Stephen King the biggest thank you ever. I can't think of a scene I really didn't like, I remember though when I first saw the scene where Billy Tessio is getting the cobra thing 'tattooed' into his arm disturbed me a little, but I was 8 or 10 and I'm a few years older now. I could watch this film every single day and not tire of it, and I am very proud of myself that I went for one full week, almost a week and a half, without wtching any part of it once, personal record for me sadly. <br><br>Wil Wheaton and River Phoenix's characters, Gordie and Chris, really made me sad b/c they had a couple real emotional scenes and it made me cry. But their acting was phenomenal as well as the rest of the cast. it really is a shame that River died, he was such a great actor.<br><br>Overall, I am in love with this movie and am so so so happy I own it. I don't think there is a man out there who will not find themselves in one of the characters. This movie brings back memories.<br><br>This is also by far the best screen adaption of a Steven King book. Don't let that fool you, this is not a horror flick. <br><br>This coming of age story is done very well. It is funny at times, exciting at times, yet very dramatic as well. Like every other child's life they have a right of passage. But I don't think all of them includes a dead body. I love this movie so much; like almost everyone that has written... Leanne... I was born in 1986, and have seen this movie when I was about 5 years old; and I have loved it ever since. I liked the movie because all the actors had a very good chemistry with one another; and seemed like they were really friends. And they also had a very great director; as everyone knows... Being a Maniac I understand the way his mind works, which is scary in itself. The story about the four friends and their adventures is all part of their going up even if it isn't all good.
